Wood and Branch Creative Works.
My name is Christie Lawrence, and I am the owner and creator of Wood and Branch Creative Works. This name, Wood and Branch, comes from the maiden names of my grandmothers. Both of these women were a major source of love, inspiration, and support in my life.
It all started when I became a large format film and wet plate photographer. I knew art was going to be a significant part of my life. Although I have consistently created art throughout the years, just as consistently, I’ve lacked predictability in the ways that I choose to create it.
My wet plate photography takes on many themes. I photograph the countless ideas that form in my head and constantly hope for happy mistakes.
I am a Red Seal welder, having worked for shipyards and fabrication shops. I have turned this skill into a creative outlet that allows me to make just about anything. I have experience in all welding processes, but I particularly enjoy TIG welding stainless and aluminum.
After taking a step back as a full time welder, I began doing silversmith work, making a variety of rings and earrings. I truly love working with silver. This platform allows me to create meaningful objects that play a role in our daily life, serving as reminders, sweet memories, or just the mindless act of carrying around the art we love.
Many of my ideas stem from my geography degree, philosophy minor, and my constant journey to be a balanced and happy person.
Aside from all of the above, my life consists of simple things. After living in a camper, a van, and a sailboat over a number of years, I now reside in a rough little cottage by the water. I have two dogs, one of which gets car sick and is afraid of heights. I love music, always attempting to play my guitar and banjo. I have a life long love of skiing and a new found love of mountain biking along with countless other outdoor activities.
So, if you're interested in weird photography, welding, silversmith work, and a jumble of other things. Welcome to my online world and thank you for being here.
